FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We’ve included a list of frequently asked questions along with answers in order to provide additional support. If your question isn’t addressed below, please get in touch with us and we’ll provide the information you need.

DO I NEED TO SOFTEN THE WAX BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?

Yes, as long as you do not have any perforations we recommend olive oil is used once per day for 3 days prior to your appointment.  This ensures the wax is soft and makes the procedure much quicker.  We advise against using drops containing Sodium Bicarbonate or Peroxide as these are very aggressive, can make the ear canal sore and make the wax too soft!

HOW LONG WILL MICROSUCTION TAKE?

Microsuction is often a very quick process and can be completed within a few minutes.  We allow up to 30mins for your appointment.  If the wax isn't removed successfully at your first visit we will invite you back for a free follow-up.

HOW CAN I PREVENT EAR WAX BUILD UP?

To minimise wax build up, we recommend keeping the ear as dry as possible.  Avoid getting water in the canal and make sure your ears are dry after being exposed to water.  If the wax is becoming hard we recommend regular use of olive oil, please ask us about this at your appointment and we can tailor our advice to suit your needs.
